Dr. Bernd Hupfer, German patent attorney since 2016 and authorized representative before the European Patent Office since 2009, successfully represents his clients in matters of patent, trademark, and design law, as well as in German and international patent and trademark disputes. His previous work in the chemical industry also makes him an expert in the fields of employee invention law and the drafting, advising on, and negotiating of IP-related contracts (confidentiality agreements, license agreements, cooperation agreements, evaluation agreements, etc.).
Dr. Bernd Hupfer studied chemistry at the University of Mainz, Germany and the university of Utah (USA). He earned his doctorate at the University of Mainz. His doctorate was followed by a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the IBM Research Center in San Jose, USA.
From 1983 to 2000, he worked in the chemical industry in various managerial positions in research and development, quality management, and production in Germany and the US. In the field of industrial property rights, Dr. Bernd Hupfer has been head of an industrial IP department since 2001.
Since 2015, he has worked as a freelancer for various patent law firms in the Rhine/Main area. For the firm he has been “Of Counsel” since 2024.
Dr. Bernd Hupfer’s areas of expertise are inorganic and organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, and materials science.
